Agility Ambush
Purpose
The drill is designed to boost players' agility and coordination while fostering a lively and enjoyable atmosphere.
Setup
- Create a rectangular zone approximately 25 yards long and 30 yards wide.
- Adjust dimensions based on age and skill levels of participants.
- Line up all players on one of the short ends, leaving them without a ball.
- Position the coach(s) in the middle of the area with multiple soccer balls.
How To Play
- At the coach's cue, players dash toward the opposite end while avoiding soccer balls kicked by the coaches.
- Coaches attempt to hit players below the knee with the balls.
- If a player is struck, they retrieve the balls and assist the coach in targeting remaining players.
- The last player standing without being hit wins the game!
Coaching Points
- Stress the importance of enjoying the activity while enhancing their skills.
- Encourage players to remain vigilant and sprint with purpose.
- Instruct players to keep their heads up to better evade incoming shots.
