Title
Dribble Dash
Purpose
The drill is designed to improve players' dribbling abilities while enhancing their speed and teamwork during competitive play.
Setup
- Create a rectangular area that measures 50 yards in length and 30 yards in width.
- Establish 5-yard buffer zones at each end of the rectangle.
- Equip each player with a soccer ball.
- Designate 3 players to serve as defenders located just outside the buffer zones.
How To Play
- At the coach's signal, players dribble their soccer balls toward the opposite buffer zone.
- Once reaching the far buffer zone, players must perform three controlled touches on the ball.
- Defenders will attempt to intercept the balls or force them out of bounds.
- Players who successfully complete their three touches move on to the next round.
- Players who lose possession must switch roles and become defenders in the following round.
- The last player holding their ball after several rounds is declared the winner.
Coaching Points
- Advocate for maintaining an awareness of surrounding defenders while dribbling.
- Always encourage players to use quick, deliberate touches to retain control and increase speed.
- Foster a spirit of collaboration among players to enhance communication on the field.
- Reinforce perseverance and strategic thinking when facing tougher opponents.
