Title
Fox Tag
Purpose
The objective of this drill is to enhance players' agility and spatial awareness in a fun, interactive chase format while fostering teamwork.
Setup
- Create a 15x15 yard square playing area using cones.
- Designate a couple players as the 'foxes' tasked with tagging others.
- The remaining players each have a ball and are confined within the square.
- Ensure enough space around the square to avoid collisions.
How To Play
- When the coach shouts 'Go!', players dribble their balls around the grid while foxes crawl on all fours to tag them.
- Players must utilize their agility and quick thinking to evade being tagged.
- Tagged players must sit down where they are tagged and wait until the round concludes.
- The round continues until all players are tagged or until a predetermined time limit expires.
- The goal for non-tagged players is to avoid getting tagged for as long as possible.
Coaching Points
- Emphasize the use of quick footwork and agile movements to escape being tagged.
- Encourage players to maintain awareness of their surroundings and anticipate the foxes' movements.
- Foster a supportive environment encouraging players to call out and help each other avoid tags.
- Reinforce the importance of balance and stability while dribbling and dodging.
