Meet and Movement - The objective of this drill is to develop players' movement and dribbling skills in a fun and social context, promoting interaction and comfort with the ball.

Setup

  1. Define a rectangular playing area measuring 15 yards by 20 yards using cones.
  2. Provide each player with their own soccer ball to use during the drill.

How To Play

  • Players begin without the ball, moving around the area at their own pace while interacting with others.

  • The coach calls out different friendly interactions such as:

    • Elbow bump
    • Fist bump
    • Smile and wave
    • Back-to-back
    • Handshake
  • After players are comfortable, distribute the soccer balls and ask them to repeat the interactions while dribbling their balls around the area.

Coaching Points

  • Foster a joyful atmosphere to ensure continuous engagement and participation.
  • Advise players to maintain close ball control while dribbling.
  • Encourage spatial awareness to prevent accidental collisions with others.
