Triangle Pass & Shoot - To enhance players' ability to execute quick combination plays followed by effective shooting from various angles near the goal.

Setup

  1. Create two triangular formations with cones around 5 yards from the penalty box, spaced 15 yards apart.
  2. Assign one player to each cone, with additional players ready to join from outside the triangles.
  3. Position a full-size goal with a goalkeeper who will switch after each round and have plenty of soccer balls available at each location.

How To Play

  • Player A starts by passing to Player B.
  • Player B then plays the ball to Player C.
  • Player C delivers a setup pass back to Player A, who takes a shot on goal.
  • For an added challenge: After Player A receives a pass from player C, player A passes the ball into space for Player C to unleash a shot at the goal instead.
  • Rotate positions after several rounds to ensure all players experience different roles and angles.

Coaching Points

  • Instruct players to be creative with their passing sequences.
  • Highlight the importance of maintaining good body position for shooting.
  • Advocate for quick and precise passing.
  • Stress the necessity of finishing accurately on target.
  • Promote fluid movement and ensure players keep their heads up.
