Title
Triple Dribble Warm-up
Purpose
This activity sharpens players' dribbling control and footwork while adding fun and dynamic movements to warm them up for more intensive drills.
Setup
- Mark out a 20x20 yard grid using cones.
- Split players into pairs.
- Each pair will need one soccer ball.
How To Play
- One player begins dribbling, while the other rests.
- First, the resting player stands with legs apart. The dribbling player passes the ball through their partner's legs, runs around, and collects it on the other side. Score points for every successful pass.
- Next, the resting player lies on their side. The dribbling player stops and flicks the ball over their partner’s body, then jumps over their legs. Only approach from the back to avoid injury. Count each successful flick and jump.
- Lastly, the resting player stretches into a bridge position. The dribbling player passes the ball under the bridge and jumps over their partner's feet. Points are awarded for each pass and jump.
Coaching Points
- Players should maintain awareness of surroundings and their partner.
- Keep the ball close during dribbling.
- Emphasize fun and safe movements to prevent injury.
- Encourage the use of different parts of the foot for better control.
