Title
Volley Clash Battle
Purpose
This drill enhances players' finishing skills, focusing on volleys while incorporating teamwork and competitive spirit.
Setup
- Mark a rectangular field measuring 15 yards wide and 30 yards long, divided into two equal sections using cones.
- Each section should have three players from opposing teams.
- Use additional cones to clearly outline the center line and scoring zones.
How To Play
- A player from one team starts the drill by volleying the ball into the opposite section.
- The defenders must return the volley using either one volley or a maximum of two touches on the ball.
- Points are scored if the ball lands out of bounds or bounces more than once before being returned.
- Play continues until a team accumulates a set point total, using a scoring system similar to tennis.
Coaching Points
- Adapt the maximum number of touches to align with players' skill levels for optimal challenge.
- Encourage players to maintain balance by lowering their center of gravity during volleys.
- Promote effective communication and teamwork strategies.
- Urge players to try various volley techniques to develop diverse skill sets.
